But how could I resist?  The hard covers were $2 each and the soft covers were only$1 each.

So sad.

Our beloved Dairy Inn is leaving us after 65 years

Description: Construction – 2011 and 2012
The proposed project will reconstruct Velp Avenue from Norwood Avenue to US 41 to replace worn pavement and sewer systems. Sidewalk and grass terrace areas (between the roadway and the sidewalk) will be installed and several side street intersections will be modified to improve safety along the roadway. Velp Avenue will be reconstructed as a four-lane roadway with a grass median in certain locations and roundabouts at the intersections of Atkinson Drive, Military Avenue, and Memorial Drive. Access to Velp Avenue will be eliminated at the following side streets: Thomas Street, Lark Street, and Syringa Boulevard. Velp Avenue will remain open to traffic during construction, but it will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction. New right of way will be purchased along the length of the project due to the widened roadway footprint and intersection modifications. Several buildings will need to be purchased, and impacts and modifications to existing driveways along the project are expected.

Section 1 – Norwood Avenue to Atkinson Drive
This section will be constructed as a four-lane roadway with a grass median. Sidewalk and 5-ft wide terraces will be installed on both sides of the roadway.

Section 2 – Atkinson Drive to Military Avenue
This section will be constructed as an undivided four-lane roadway. A 5-ft wide terrace will be installed on both sides along with a 5-ft wide sidewalk on the south side of the roadway.

Section 3 – Military Avenue to US 41
This section will be constructed as a four-lane roadway with a partial grass median installed near the Military Avenue and Melody Drive intersections. Sidewalk and 10-ft wide terraces will be installed on both sides of the roadway.

Roundabouts
Multilane roundabouts are planned for controlling traffic movements at the intersections of Velp Avenue with Atkinson Drive, Military Avenue, and Memorial Drive. Two of the intersections currently incorporate traffic signals. Modern roundabouts provide a practical alternative to traffic signals by creating slower speeds, fewer conflict points for pedestrians and motorists, and reduced collision angles compared to traffic signal-controlled intersections.
